Sleeping on a Boat in Menton, France

February 7, 2020

I spent about a week in Menton, France with my host family and their friends. There wasn’t enough room for us all to stay in the house so the other au pair and I got to sleep on the family’s boat. I was secretly thrilled about this because who wouldn’t kill to sleep on a boat on the French Riveria?

Every day, I would wake up, go for a swim in the sea and then go to a cafe to get a croissant and cappuccino before climbing up the hill to my host family’s house. Menton was full of hills and during my free time, I climbed to the highest point, where it turned out, was a graveyard. I had never seen a graveyard so intricate and colorful. It matched the rest of the town perfectly. There were a lot of cute little French shops here selling soaps, macaroons, and baguettes.

I could have spent many more days in Menton and the lifestyle was so relaxing. However, I packed up my suitcase at the end of the week and headed back to Italy.
