The trip to Barcelona was one of the most fun group trips I’ve ever been on. It was special because I got to visit this city with all three of my roomates and they made the trip so much fun.
I was already sick before I got onto the flight to Barcelona, however, I figured I could tough it out for this short weekend trip. It turns out that I had no choice but to tough it out because from the moment we got off of the plane we were going non-stop. There was a point when I was walking up the massive hill to Park Guell (pictured above) that I thought for sure I wasn’t going to make it. We went in February, so while the weather wasn’t freezing it wasn’t exactly warm either. The only thing that seemed to help my illness was some medicine that a Spanish lady recommended at the pharmacy and drinking more Sangria (which my roommates steadily encouraged.)
Our Airbnb was very sketchy and we were shocked when we found out we were sharing it with an older man. This caused us to barley go back to our Airbnb and stay out until the early morning hours. Despite these not ideal conditions, this trip was a blast. We went to the Picasso Museum and walked around the giant food market. The food was some of the best I’ve had in Europe. We went to a fancy dinner at 7 Portes and were clearly underdressed compared to everyone else. I tried Paella for the first time and fell in love. We ordered a few different types, including one with black squid ink in it, but the vegetable one was my favorite.
We barley made it back to Italy, with one of us almost missing our flight. I ended up being bedridden for the next week, however, this trip was so worth it.
